I’ve been cooking from “The Quick Roasting Tin” as well as “The Roasting Tin” for a few months now and here’s my verdict. Five enthusiastic, very satisfied stars. This is a brilliant cookbook which features easy to follow, fuss free recipes that are not prescriptive; if you don’t have one ingredient to hand you can check the options and substitute for something you have without need to to alter the rest of the elements. The majority of recipes you will find are remarkably robust to omitting ingredients that are low FODMAP or substituting onions/garlic with things like spring onion leaves, celery, chives or even grated ginger. It was easy to adapt to be low FODMAP, I just omitted the onion and added spring onion leaves instead. This didn't work out as well as the other two dishes. The recipes are tasty and dead easy to create.
Though none of the recipes stood out to me, this would be a great jumping off point for someone to try sheet pan meals and then come up with their own recipes. The only change I made to make it low FODMAP was omitting the garlic and the white parts of the spring onions. This is perfect for busy peopl. Hi, I'm Vai - a lover of food and all things pretty. Just chop a few ingredients, pop them into a roasting tin… It feels weird to say "I read a cookbook" but I legit read this cover to cover and now I plan on buying it. I'll update the post with more pictures once I try some of the other recipes and adapt them to make them low FODMAP.
I might give something a go and see if it works. Can't wait to try some more of the recipes.
I made some delicious meals, plus it has guides for roasting meats, veggies, and grains. My partner and I have already made three dinners from this book and every single one of them has been tasty, quick to make and delicious. But weeknights are another story. This book is awesome! Most of the recipes are mains and could work as either lunch or dinner, but there are a handful of puddings at the end. I feel this is a very handy addition so am always disappointed when this is missing. All meals take just 10 minutes to prep, and no longer than 30 minutes in the oven. The book is presented beautifully and all the dishes so far have been easy to make and had simple ingredients lists most of which I already had in the cupboard so it lives up to the description. Perfect stuff to make midweek cooking a breeze.
